Patients in UMMC's four intensive care units have treatment teams that include board-certified critical care physicians and a wealth of acute-care providers from multiple specialties and subspecialties. The Jackson Heart Study has been renewed. Since 1998, the NIH-funded project has enabled researchers at UMMC, Jackson State University and Tougaloo College to study cardiovascular health and disease in African-Americans.
